Connie Britton was born as Constance Elaine Womack in Boston, Massachusetts as a daughter to Edgar Allen Womack, Jr. and Linda Jane Womack. Her father was an energy company executive and a physicist. Though Britton was born in Boston, she spent her early years in Rockville, Maryland. She then moved on to Lynchburg, Virginia, where she studied at the E.C Glass High School. It was then that she started taking part in the E.C Glass High School dramas and was recognized in her school days as well. Britton even has her photos displayed in the E.C Glass Alumni Theatre.
Connie Britton graduated from Dartmouth College with a major in Asian Studies and a concentration in Chinese. She eventually went to Beijing Normal University, Beijing, where the U.S Senator from New York, Kirsten Gillibrand was one of her fellows. After completing her studies abroad, Britton came back to New York City. She again continued with her studies with Sanford Meisner at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre.
